The Story of DoroVerden.

DoroVerden is a happy accident, a passion project that turned into a small business. I initially started creating DoroVerden prints for my home; I never expected others to love them as much as I did. Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response that I have received, I've decided to share DoroVerden and make my prints available for purchase.

The prints are just a small portion of what DoroVerden will become; I am also developing a “visitors travel guide” filled with a bounty of strange and beautiful flora and fauna. I'm excited about this creative journey, and I am so grateful for those of you who have shown an interest in my work thus far.

More than just a name.

DoroVerden is named, in part, after my mother Dorothy, or Doro for short. An avid animal lover, my mother fostered my love for nature and the creatures that dwell within it.

She also taught me that being unique is something to celebrate rather than shy away from; it's better to be an individual who stands out than one who smothers their creativity to fit in. As such, it seems fitting to name this new venture in honor of the woman who nurtured my imagination and taught me it's okay to be weird.

About the artist.

My name is Ali Cole, and I'm the creator of DoroVerden. I have pursued many creative paths throughout my life, first as a filmmaker, later as a florist and paper sculptor, and now as a digital artist. Creativity is, unfortunately, my hobby and not my day job, but maybe one day that will change.

Nature has always been my happy place; it's where I find the most serenity. Unsurprisingly, I have always been drawn to the work created by the great painters and naturalists of the late 19th and early 20th century, and my designs are inspired by them. One of the things I love most about DoroVerden is building on what the greats have done by pushing the boundaries of nature and creating strange and whimsical natural life not found in our world.
